Facing Goliath

A giant stands before them; many tremble in fear because of this giant. After all, who really wants to face this giant? The giant does well at getting into their heads, filling them with fear. This fear, embraces to the very core of their heart and minds. This fear overtakes their ability to persevere, to fight, to win the battle, to defeat the giant. Many warriors, trapped by the fear of defeat simply walk away from the battle with their heads down and giving up what they know needs to be done. The giant continues to bark out words of defeat, despair, and rejection. Many more turn away in doubt of their ability to conquer this giant and in frustration walk away from their gifts and ability to in fact beat this giant.
Then, one comes along and hears the giants lies, “You can’t win, you can’t defeat me!” Small in comparison to the giant, this one says to the giant, “you are wrong!” I am not afraid.” David is his name, a simple shepherd boy who only came to the battle field to meet up with his brothers. David, unlike his brothers and the entire army, wasn’t gripped with the fear the giant was pouring out to the others. David simply replies to the giant, you may be big, you may be scary, but I have God on my side and with that you stand no chance. David picks up a few small stones, takes his slingshot and takes aim. With the first stone cast, the giant falls to the ground. What had seemed to be an impossible task, a fearful battle was won not because of David’s own strength, ability or power but rather because of God’s power and His ability to overcome fear and impossibilities.
This is a great story about overcoming fears and impossibilities through the power of God. I have come to understand this story in my life. Facing what seems to be fears and impossibilities. Hearing voices (not literally, lol) that say you can’t win, you can never do it and more. Facing the fears of not being able to be victorious in a battle. But, I too know, just as David did, that God is able to do more than I could ever imagine. My battle, my Goliath, is fundraising. Compared to the battle David faced this may not seem like such a big battle for some. But, in order to defeat my Goliath, to be victorious in the ministry that God has called me to through mission work I must raise funds to meet my ministry budget in order to be on the battle field (mission field).
I am confident that God has placed me on this battle field, but just as David understood this he still needed and used stones to get the job done. I am asking you to consider being a stone, if you will, to help fund my ministry as I go into all the world to share the love of Christ. My fear? Asking you to be a part of this ministry financially. It is not my favorite part of doing ministry but yet I know that God uses each of us for different reasons. Some are “goers” and some are “senders” and I am asking you to be a sender. To be a stone that is used to defeat Satan and his attempt to stop my work by not allowing me to raise the funding necessary.
I am going to be bold. Scripture teaches us “that we have not because we ask not.” So I am asking, will you partner with me in this ministry? I have a funding goal of $2000.00 a month. Will you consider partnering with me with a monthly financial commitment of $25.00. $50.00 or $100.00? Maybe you can do more or maybe less, but whatever you can do to help me do what I do is appreciated and helpful. Please prayerfully consider how you may help.
